UPDATE: Northside Baby Alumni Club & Zoo Atlanta

I got quite a few inquiries about yesterday's post (see below), so I tried to do a little more digging on the event at Zoo Atlanta.  ...I'll be honest, I couldn't find much, but I found a number to call at Northside and spoke with someone in the Northside Hospital Foundation department, and the event IS open to "all Northside babies, and their families and siblings".  Please do just keep in mind the donations you are asked to contribute.   You can register for the event by emailing foundation.RSVP@northside.com.  If you'd like further information, call 770-667-4483.

If your little one was born at Northside, you may get an invite in the mail for a free evening at Zoo Atlanta.  Our little monkey was born there two years ago, so we are apparently part of the Northside Hospital Baby Alumni Club. Here's the gist of what the postcard says:
* Saturday, June 4, 2011, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Admission is free, but you are encouraged to bring a donation to the Atlanta Community Food Bank (canned goods or diapers).

* There will be arts and crafts, DJ, face painting, and cookies in the Ford Pavillion.

* Honoring the Northside Hopsital Baby Alumni Club (I don't know what specific ages this covers...)
For more information, contact Zoo Atlanta or Northside Hospital.  Not sure yet if I'll bring my daughter for this one, the zoo may think she belongs there.  ;o)

Ditching the Sponge

Ditching the Sponge This summer I accomplished something I once thought unthinkable: I gave up the sponge.  It was a gripping addiction, harder to kick than a nasty nicotine habit.   ...a habit that had the ability to spar k the silliest of arguments amongst even the best of   roomies.  Right, SwimBikeMom ?  :P  But once again, I digress; that's a blog for another day. Perhaps a tad  OCD, I was one of *those* people who had a sponge designated for various parts of the kitchen: one for the floor, one for the counters, and another one for dishes.  I knew for quite some time that sponges were a breeding ground for all things disgusting; however, I was not keen on the idea of using paper towels, or other disposable products -- I had  to find a GREEN alternative to sponges.
