All's Quiet on the Frugal Front

My dear readers, you've most likely noticed the pace around here has been a bit sluggish the last month.  My apologies for not keeping abreast with all the goings-on in the frugal world as of late.  Please be assured that I am working behind the scenes, and am preparing for a few major undertakings, TBA.  (That's all I can say for now; trust me, big stuff is underway!)

Along with these changes, I've been dealing with a toddler who suddenly loathes naps and bedtime, which was the prime time in which I could work on the blog.  Add to it, her adventurous curiosity, which leads her to parts of the house unknown, like snaking through the GATED back stair case by fitting through the upper posts (!!); sneaking in to the garage from the kitchen, and heading towards the door to the back porch, with school bus in hand (of course?!); and trying to fill up the bathtub, with her in it, while Mommy scrubbed crayon off the kitchen walls.  And that's just the highlights from this morning, before heading to the doctor for confirmation that she, indeed, has pinkeye...  Needless to say, I'm running a bit ragged these days...  but, I digress.

In the meantime, I'm working to fill out my "household services" section, including a recent review of Comfort Zone heating and air.  I've got a fantastic custom cabinet maker to tell you about, a gutters and windows installer, and more to come.  Truly, if mine is the house that Jack built, what the heck was Jack drinking whilst building?!??

Please continue to utilize my printable Coupon Center to help you stay abreast of all the best deals.  Also, check out the Groupon widget on the side of the blog (over there ------> to the right), as well as the latest deals on Target.com, located right under the Groupon widget.

Ditching the Sponge

Ditching the Sponge This summer I accomplished something I once thought unthinkable: I gave up the sponge.  It was a gripping addiction, harder to kick than a nasty nicotine habit.   ...a habit that had the ability to spar k the silliest of arguments amongst even the best of   roomies.  Right, SwimBikeMom ?  :P  But once again, I digress; that's a blog for another day. Perhaps a tad  OCD, I was one of *those* people who had a sponge designated for various parts of the kitchen: one for the floor, one for the counters, and another one for dishes.  I knew for quite some time that sponges were a breeding ground for all things disgusting; however, I was not keen on the idea of using paper towels, or other disposable products -- I had  to find a GREEN alternative to sponges.
