RECALL: Hyland's Teething Tablets

Hyland's Homeopathic Teething Tablets are being voluntarily recalled, due to .....well, reasons are still unclear and vague at the moment.  While there isn't sufficient data to back up reports that it "pos[es] risk to children"1, according to a statement released by the FDA.

The company is cooperating, and working closely with the FDA, thus this is a voluntary recall.  If you have any questions or concerns -including information about a potential refund- directed to Standard Homeopathic Company2 (the maker's of Hyland's Teething Tablets), you can go to their website or call 1-877-496-5044.

According to the company's website, the following are the products being recalled:
  • Hyland’s Teething Tablets, 125 tablets, UPC # 3 54973 75041
  • Hyland’s Teething Tablets, 250 tablets, UPC # 3 54973 75042
  • Hyland’s Teething Tablets, 125 tablets, UPC # 3 54973 75066
  • Hyland’s Teething Tablets, 50 tablets, UPC # 3 54973 75044
  • Hyland’s Teething Tablets, 145 tablets, UPC # 3 54973 75121
  • Hyland’s Teething Tablets, Clip Strip 6x125 tablets, UPC # 3 54973 35109
I try to leave my opinion out of these matters, and let my readers form their own.  So I'm biting my tongue on this one, as I have much to say on both sides of the argument.  I'll let y'all speak for yourselves.  However...

If you are outraged by this recall, as I know many already are, find a way to take action.  Perhaps you can let the company know how well the product worked for your child(ren).  Gaia Health certainly takes a position of disgust at this recall, but please form your own opinion.  OR if you have reports of an adverse reaction linked to the tablets, by all means, speak up!

Ditching the Sponge

Ditching the Sponge This summer I accomplished something I once thought unthinkable: I gave up the sponge.  It was a gripping addiction, harder to kick than a nasty nicotine habit.   ...a habit that had the ability to spar k the silliest of arguments amongst even the best of   roomies.  Right, SwimBikeMom ?  :P  But once again, I digress; that's a blog for another day. Perhaps a tad  OCD, I was one of *those* people who had a sponge designated for various parts of the kitchen: one for the floor, one for the counters, and another one for dishes.  I knew for quite some time that sponges were a breeding ground for all things disgusting; however, I was not keen on the idea of using paper towels, or other disposable products -- I had  to find a GREEN alternative to sponges.
